December 1 is World AIDS Day. Did you know World AIDS Day has been observed since 1988?
The theme for the 2022 observance is “Equalize”. With this theme, the World Health Organization is calling on global leaders and citizens to boldly recognize and address the inequalities which are holding back progress in ending AIDS; and equalize access to essential HIV services particularly for children and key populations and their partners. Throughout December, you can follow the HIV.gov blog for updates on federal activities honoring this day.
To observe this important day, we can all bring attention to HIV awareness and knowledge. It is important to continue to speak out against HIV stigma, and call for an increased response to move toward Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America.
